Travel Tryouts Registration Open for Rising 3rd-8th Graders

Registration for TRYOUTS for the upcoming Travel Team season is now open for rising 3rd-8th graders, school year 2027-2027. Registration ends ends September 15th.

Travel team tryouts details are below, along with a link to register at the bottom, so please read all the way to the end. All interested players must pre-register and attend at least one tryout session. If you are absolutely unable to attend your grade-specific session, you may attend one grade older/younger than your own. If needed, a second session may be added. All days/times/locations subject to change. Rising 3rd-8th graders are eligible.

Teams will be selected shortly after tryouts are complete and practices will begin right away. We will have at least one, likely 2 (A & B), teams per grade level except 3rd where there will just be one team..

Practices will be once or twice during the week in the Fall. The specific nights will be determined by the coaches. Once the season starts there will be typically be one practice and 1-2 games per week. Coaches may schedule additional practice time at their discretion.

There is a pre-season tournament at the end of November > early Dec. There are 12 regular season games, plus playoffs (hopefully!).

Regular season games can start mid-December, but we hope to begin after Jan 1. Once games start, there will typically just be one practice per week and usually 1-2 games per week. The season will end around mid-late February, early March depending on the playoffs, etc.

We try to schedule most home games on the weekends. There will be one or 2 weeknight games. We cannot control the away game schedule. Travel is typically less than an hour drive at most.

We play in the Inter County Basketball Association, www.icbabasketball.com . You can check out the site to get some more info on the league and prior season schedules.

Depending on coach/player/parent interest there may be a tournament or 2 added during or after the season.

Rec League & Travel Team Coach Registration Open

Join us this Saturday for the grand opening of our two new multi-purpose synthetic turf fields at Westside Park.

Registration is now open for ALL coaches for the upcoming 2026/2027 season. We are always in need of more female role models - no experience needed!! - we will provide you with all the support and resources you need. We will also be in need of 3rd grade travel coaches. Please email mlgbahoops@gmail.com to learn more about travel coaching.

All coaches must successfully complete a background check. There will be a link to our background check partner provided at the end of the registration form. If you have current (valid through 2027) clearances, you can email them separately to mlgbahoops@gmail.com

For the rec league, 1st-3rd Grade teams will have at least 3 coaches (2 to run the games and one to manage the bench). 4th grade teams and older can "start" with no more than 2 coaches, but can add a 3rd after team selection if desired. Coaches may choose to partner and coach together. Unpaired coaches will be added to teams to ensure adequate coverage.

Travel team head coaches will choose their own assistant coaches.

All coaches must sign the MLGBA waiver and strictly abide by the Codes of Conduct and the rules detailing Coaches Conduct Toward Youth Referees. All 3 documents must be signed off on when registering.

Speak to your audience
